Multan board was the main body that was conducting examination but the Bahawalpur region changed its board that was due to the population that was increasing day by day. There fore in the year 1977 Bahawalpur board was separated from Multan board that was formed earlier and its initial office was in mulatn but then in 1978 it was shifted to Bahawalpur. Bahawalpur board conducted its first supplementary examination in 1978 and then in 1979 its office was shifted to daulat khana that is in Bahawalpur.

Board has objective that is to conduct examination for 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th class examination that is by board and also providing students with certificates after that. In 1993 under Education Department of Government it also got responsibility for conducting examinations for OT/CT/PTC and Arts and Crafts. There are also oriental languages paper are conducted by the board. Punjab education commission was formed in the year 2005 that was with main purpose to monitor and control examination for 5th and 8th class that are not compulsory but students appear in them for practice and getting known to the pattern of paper.

Examination for 9th class by the board are conducted in the month of march and April many students appear in examination and before that registration occurs that is in the month of January and these forms are provided online and also posted to affiliated colleges. After registration students are provided with roll number slips and date sheets in the month of February and after that students appear in examination in March and April. Many students are now waiting for results and they are excited for it too.
