Multan board was conducting and carrying out examination those were in the region and many students appeared in them and passed out but with time as population increased Bahawalpur board was separated from the Multan board in the year 1977 that was by the government of Punjab. In the year 1977 board office for Bahawalpur board was located in the Multan but then in 1978 it was shifted to Bahawalpur. First supplementary examination by the board were conducted in 1978 and then in 1979 this board office was moved to daulat khana.

Board conducts examination in classical and oriental languages and in 1993 under Education Department of Government it also got responsibility for conducting examinations for OT/CT/PTC and Arts and Crafts. Main objective of the board is to conduct examination for 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th class examination and many students appear in them and pass out these examination by the board. Punjab education commission was formed in the year 2005 that was with the main purpose to conduct and control the examination for 5th and 8th class conducted under the board examination and these examination are not compulsory but students carry them out for practice.

Intermediate consist of two parts those are inter part I that is 11th class and inter part II that is 12th class in these examination many students appear from government and private institution and they pass out these examination are conducted in the month of April and May. Before that registration takes place that is in the month of February and these forms are posted to the affiliated colleges and also online on the official website of the board. After registration in the month of march students are provided with roll number slips and date sheets after that examination are conducted in the month of april and may and many students are now waiting for their results to be announced that time is very near and students must be excited.
